Post a Quote Challenge: Day 3

The last and final day! I had an extremely hard time picking which quote to use here, so I’ll put in a bonus one. The rules…

The Rules:

    • Post 1 quote a day for 3 days (can be your own or from other sources)
    • Nominate 3 bloggers to participate per post
    • Thank the person who nominated you

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” – MLK, Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr. continues to be an inspiration today, and words really can’t describe the respect he deserves. He is too often portrayed as just standing off to the sidelines and preaching love and his dreams, rather than the clear-headed activist he really was. He was bold, brave, wise, kind, incredibly astute, and drew the best kind of inspiration from his religion. His fate was a great American tragedy.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day will be Monday, January 18th in 2016, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t respect and honour him the rest of the year. While doing that, don’t forget to remember a civil rights activist that we too often skip over: Claudette Colvin.

And here’s the bonus quote:

“The time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining.” JFK, John F. Kennedy.

There’s a lot you can say about JFK and his brother, RFK. I don’t want to drag this on too long, so I’ll just say that they were trying to achieve good goals and their ends were tragic. This quote in particular is a good bit of wisdom to remember: we shouldn’t make changes only when the severity of the situation is crushing us. In times of peace, when changes can be made easily, is when we should be pushing for change.

My Last 3 Nominees:

Style Domination

Bronaghs

The Jelly Abyss

Hope you’re all having a good week!

Post a Quote Challenge: Day 2

Leaving off from Day 1…

The Rules:

“The first recipe for happiness is: avoid too lengthy meditation on the past.” – André Maurois

I don’t have much to add to this one, other than the fact that I completely, 100% agree. In my opinion, the past only really matters if you allow it. A time to grieve, and a time to heal, are important, but there comes a time when you’re clinging to the past only because you don’t have hope for the future… or because you don’t have anything better to do!

I Nominate:

Lisa from Midwest Glam

The weekend has just ended, so I hope you all enjoy the week!

Post A Quote Challenge: Day 1

Quite some time ago I was nominated by Too Much Mouth for the Post a Quote Challenge. Basically, you post a quote a day for three days consecutively. Sounds like fun! I always love hearing good quotes. Sorry it took me so long to get around to this, thanks so much for the nomination. ❤ ❤

The Rules:

  • Post 1 quote a day for 3 days (can be your own or from other sources)
  • Nominate 3 bloggers to participate per post
  • Thank the person who nominated you

To start things off with Day 1, I’m going to leave one of my favourite quotes from one of my favourite presidents.

“Human kindness has never weakened the stamina or softened the fiber of a free people. A nation does not have to be cruel to be tough.”  – FDR, Franklin D. Roosevelt.

FDR was an amazing president with admirable perseverance, grit, and integrity. He knew the importance of communicating with the entire country on a level the entire country could understand, of using common words and explaining things slowly. He was without pretense. I could only use quotes for him for the entire challenge, but I won’t, so I will leave only my favourite quote from him. People who don’t understand true strength regard harshness as a virtue, and it is only them, because true strength – morally, mentally, economically – comes from a sense of decency and sacrifice. FDR couldn’t have put it better.

I Nominate:

Janine from A Beautiful Whim

Vanessa at Say Hello to Gorgeous

cellardoor2014 at Gym Bag Makeup

I think you three would enjoy this challenge! I’ll pick three new people each day. There’s no pressure to do it, and please, if you want to do this challenge, you are automatically nominated. Have fun, and be sure to do someone a kindness today!
