(Yeesh, I wrote this two months ago… I never uploaded it, though, I took Swerve and Poison with me on a trip, and it, along with some of my nice makeup, got stolen/lost at the airport. =/ Absolute bummer. I’ll have to order another one soon. So, slightly updated post, just ignore the lack of Swerve and Poison)
It’s been awhile since I’ve done a makeup review, much less a ColourPop review! In spite of their rapid-fire releases as of late, I’ve held back. Nothing too new here, and some even discontinued, as a matter of fact. For shame! Onward.
Aaaahaa!! I hardly ever review something while it’s still sorta new, so this is a big “huzzah” moment for me!
Alright, quick background in case if you haven’t heard it yet: Milani released these limited edition liquid lipsticks back in late 2015 as exclusives to Walgreens, and they were sold out before a lot of people had a chance to get them. The original shades are now discontinued, but for Spring 2016, they released a whole new 18 shades, a few being dupes for the old ones. I grabbed five of em.
Liquid lipstick is certainly the trend nowadays, and I’m surprised by how many budget friendly options have appeared! As someone who loves lipstick but hates constantly reapplying after leaving the big red “Zovesta Has Been Here” sign on every glass, liquid lipsticks are something I thought I’d dig. Not so much at first, after sampling a few different formulas. Now? It’s safe to say they’ve taken over my lipstick wardrobe.
Liquid lipsticks are, in short, lipstick you apply like a gloss that dries down to a budge-proof, or mostly budge-proof finish, and are normally matte. Personally, I’d like to see a liquid lipstick that has a glossy finish and is budge-proof, but that’s probably just a little impossible! Nevertheless, the matte finish is only too fashionable nowadays anyway (one of these days, the frosty lips trend will come back, and when that day comes, I’ll be waiting…).
So, seeing as how much I love this new trend and comparison posts, here’s a round-up of every liquid lipstick I own, and a comparison between them!
So, the pun wasn’t enough to drive you away. Good, good.
As you may or may not know, I am absolutely in love with Wet n Wild (cruelty-free!). In particular, their eyeshadows and recently, their Silk Finish lipstick. I have mixed feelings about their regular lipstick, but that’s another review for another day…
